The confirmation of a second season for “Saga of Tanya the Evil” came on June 19, 2021, when Kadokawa released its first teaser trailer for the season. The announcement was also accompanied by illustrations done by the show’s character designer Yuji Hosogoe and manga artist Chika Tojo.
Most likely because it was such a recent announcement, the actual release date for season two hasn’t been announced yet. Rumors are swirling, with predictions being anywhere from the fairly standard for anime series to be released either six or nine months after the announcement — meaning we could see the show drop in January or April of 2022 — to much longer timelines. About Saga of Tanya the Evil
The anime show is based on the light novel series under the same name written by Carlo Zen, with Shinobu Shinotsuki illustrating. The books and the show have an Isekai military fantasy setting. The premise of the show involves a Japanese businessman who is killed by his enemies and reborn. Having insulted God, whom he calls Being X, he is reincarnated as a child named Tanya Degurechaff. Tanya exists in an alternate universe Europe in the year 1910, where magic exists and Tanya is a child soldier.
Tanya knows that if she dies an unnatural death or is unable to find faith in Being X, her soul will be sent to hell as retribution for sins in her previous life. As a soldier on the front lines, though, not dying proves difficult. In an attempt to avoid dying in battle, Tanya works to achieve a high-enough rank in the military so she is no longer on the battlefield. In doing so, she becomes a valued soldier known for her efficiency and ruthlessness, earning herself the title “Devil of the Rhine.” Despite her best attempts to earn a rank that gives her a desk job, she ironically finds herself too valuable to leave the field for long. Of course, Being X is trying to force Tanya to become one of his believers, and keeping her on the battlefield serves his purpose. Because of this, he plays an active role to ensure she doesn’t keep a desk job for long.

Season one and the movie were both animated by Studio Nut and directed by Yutaka Uemura. Scripts are being overseen by Kenta Ihara.
What Can We Expect in Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2?
The book series of “Youjo Senki” currently has 12 volumes, and new books are still coming out. If you want to read the books while you wait for the next season to be released, they are published in English by Yen Press. The first season of the anime series covered volumes one through three, and the movie undertook volume four. It’s probably reasonable to assume that season two will pick up with volume five.
At the end of “The Saga of Tanya the Evil” movie, we saw Tanya lose the recently attained research position with orders to return to the battlefield.
