On last night’s episode of Survivor, both tribes lost a player but only one was voted out.  After suffering an injury that the medical staff deemed too serious, Jonathan was removed from the game in order to seek treatment.  When Malakal lost their immunity challenge, they dumped Chet, who they deemed dead weight.  For a minute, it seemed that he had the opportunity to take Ozzy out, but the plan never came to fruition.  Today, both Jonathan and Chet teamed up to talk to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.  Read on to see what they both thought about how they left the game of Survivor!

Chet and Jonathan first officially met when they did their post-elimination interviews. They were never on the same tribe and had no communication with each other. “We’re having a great time,” said Penner. Still, we had to check to make sure that he was telling the truth, that he was in good health and made peace with how he left the game. “I’m feeling much, much better now, thank you. When I was leaving, I was extremely upset but then I was out of the game and I was rather calm about it all,” he reflected.

Survivor may have portrayed Chet as someone who was in over his head but he promises that he knew what he was in for when he signed up. “Yes, the conditions were brutal,” he said. “It was just more of a situation where things didn’t turn out the way you wanted.”

Despite talk of blindsiding Ozzy at that night’s tribal council, Chet said that it never would have happened as his fate had already been sealed. “It was a done deal,” he admitted. “I would’ve been pulled off by the medical team because of the infection in my foot. I could’ve gone through with everyone and hope that they were trying to vote out Ozzy but I didn’t want to just disappear from the game. I’m one of the few Survivors in history who can say, ‘The tribal council that I got voted out was probably one of the most beautiful days of my life’.”

Jonathan may have had to leave the game early due to reasons beyond his control but he is still proud of the way that he played. His best strategic move, in his mind, was “winning as many challenges as I did. I was part of eight winning challenges and that helped solidify my position as a leader and a strong player on my tribe.” His parting words with BuddyTV were for the readers not to count the fans out just yet. “It’s a long game,” he said.
