Kristina and Jason were the fifth team to be eliminated this season on Beauty and the Geek. It seemed like these two were going to breeze through their sledding challenge last night because they had built up such a big lead over everyone else. Unfortunately, their coefficient of friction was their biggest nemesis, and Tommy and Amanda were able to sail past them for the win.
Kristina and Jason spoke to BuddyTV today, and boy, did they have a lot to say! They weighed in on whether they thought Tommy was a “real geek” or not, they hinted about lots of bed-hopping going on behind the scenes, and they shared what they learned from their time on Beauty and the Geek. This is Debbie at BuddyTV, and today I’m talking to Kristina and Jason from Beauty and the Geek. Hey, guys, how are you doing?
Kristina: Good.
Jason: We’re good.
So, you guys were so close to winning the sledding challenge last night, and you stopped, like, a foot from the finish line. What happened?
Kristina: We started off really well, you know, and we were almost there. And then, there was a slight uphill incline, but we didn’t have enough speed to keep going. And we thought we were done, so we stopped a little bit before the end.
Jason: I guess what my general problem was that the snow was so cold outside that my knees were locking up, so my feet were digging into the snow. And Tommy had all those sweater vests. The guy had to be wearing at least five or six sweater vests and allowed him for ease of comfort for sledding down effectively.
How many times did you end up trying the sled part over again?
Kristina: A couple.
Jason: Yeah, I’ll definitely go with that. We climbed up that hill one last time, they told us to leave it out because they were already finished. So we did quite a hill climbing that day.
Kristina: The hill was the world part. Just climbing up there was a challenge in and of itself.
Kristina, you mentioned, at one point, you took the sled and you said that you were the man of the relationship. I thought that was really funny. Do you have any other examples of that?
Jason: I’ll handle this one. I have to definitely say that I am in the partnership and here’s why. Because I am the one that messed up, and it’s the man’s job to mess up the partnership.
Kristina: You know what? They caught me at a really angry time. I don’t know. At that point, I was just really angry and I felt like—no offense, Jason—I just felt like I was taking the sled up there and everything, and I was just getting really frustrated.
Jason: I would let her do everything. She takes out the garbage, she does the sled. I help Greggie with the cake, and we’re all good.
Kristina: Yeah, pretty much.
Alright, Jason. You mentioned you didn’t like the way Tara treated Joe. Do you have any other examples of what she did that you didn’t like, besides building the wall in bed?
Jason: Building the wall was the most recent example. I think the show, in a way, speaks for itself. Just the way she kept arguing with him and fighting with him, I think she was more concerned about getting to know Tom more than getting to know her own partner, and this is what we signed up for, you know, to help each other out, to help your partner out, priority-wise. And she just completely ignored him.
Kristina: And, on top of that, she would tell Joe, “Oh, I can’t sleep in the same bed with you because, you know, I have morals.” But then, she slept three nights in a row with Tommy. So how does that make Joe feel when she’s pretending like, “Oh, I just don’t do that,” but then she’ll do it with another guy? It just made him feel like…He said in the last episode, he was like, “Do you want to get to know him more than you want to get to know me? Like, you’re not even trying to get to know me.”
Not to be all gossipy, but if Tara slept with Tommy—
Jason: Not that I can actually recall, but all I remember is that they slept in the same bed together.
Oh, yeah, that’s what I meant. So where was Amanda at that point?
Kristina: Amanda was sleeping, I think she was actually sleeping with me at one point. Or she’d be by herself.
Okay. So when you guys first got on the show at the beginning, what were your first impressions of your competitors?
Kristina: I know, for me, I was like, “Oh my gosh, I have never been surrounded with such different groups of people.” There’s people that I’ve never had to interact with, which were the guys more, and then there were some of these girls that were just so crazy, some really ghetto. It’s just a really, really different group of people. My first reaction was, “Oh my God, there’s going to be some drama in this house.”
Jason: My first reaction was, like I said on the show, “I could have did this at home.” They take us, they show us these girls, then they say, “Oh, you’re going to be against them, and I can go hang out with Jonathan instead. I am like, “Why, God, why?”
You know, a lot of our readers are of the opinion that Tommy isn’t a real geek, and therefore, he has an unfair advantage. So, I was wondering how you guys weighed in on that?
Kristina: I absolutely agree. And being on the show and seeing how he acts, seeing what he does, he was a flirt from day one. He was flirting up all the girls. I’m not going to go into detail, but I mean the things that he did with some of the girls? I’m sorry, but if you say that you haven’t dated anybody since the sixth grade, then don’t know how to go about doing things like that. And on top of that, you know the whole sweater vest thing? That doesn’t make you a geek. It’s how you act, it’s how you just react to different situations. And he never had a problem reacting in social settings. That was never an issue for him. So from day one, all of us were like, “Tommy, why are you on the show? They could have at least made you wear glasses or something.”
Jason: Kristina, I have to disagree with you completely. Tommy wears a sweater vest. How can we possible get over that? Matt is legally blind—big deal. Tommy wears a sweater vest. Because of the sweater vest, he is scarred for life, don’t you understand? Do you hear me at all?
Kristina: He’s being sarcastic, by the way.
Jason: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kristina gets my humor.
Great. Okay. And so, looking back on your journey, what do you think that you guys have improved on the most?
Jason: I now know that you do not need a paint tray to make a sled. And then, just generally, I think the whole thing is confidence. Like I said, I never thought that a girl like Kristina would get along with me, or I could share my jokes, or get my humor, like she did two seconds ago. So the thing I learned from that is that I can go now and be confident with women like her.
Kristina: Actually, I came to this show really trusting people and really just being able to open up and be friends with literally anybody. I know this is somewhat a bad thing to learn, but I learned that a lot of people aren’t what they seem. And a lot of people will be nice to you, but they’re really backstabbing. And it was hurtful to learn that, but I learned that. But then, I also learned that guys like Jason are really awesome guys. Like, Jason turned out to be one of the funniest people I’ve ever met, which I didn’t expect.
Jason: No, I’m boring, I’m boring.
Kristina: Stop it! You’re hilarious, I love it.
So, what are your plans now?
Kristina: Well, actually, Leticia and I might be working together, doing campaign work and things like that. And then, I’m still going to law school and all that stuff, so that hasn’t changed.
Jason: I still plan on completing my fire suit, getting that jacket up, and sledding down that hill. You know, I’m really finishing it off. And we’ll see where we go from there.
