Sitting across from Bones’ David Boreanaz is a bit like sitting across from Adonis. The man is ridiculously (sweaty palm inducing) handsome and he answers questions with a booming baritone that at times makes it difficult to separate him from his iconic characters. Needless to say, it’s a wee bit intimidating.
But then peeking from his blue jeans, you see a flash of loud, somewhat obnoxious orange striped socks. Socks that Seeley Booth might deem too garish to wear. It’s then that you realize the details that make Boreanaz’s iconic characters so human, quirky, and relatable are drawn from the man itself. A fact which Boreanaz quickly confirmed saying, “I am the inspiration for every quirk you see on Booth.” And appraently some so over the top they won’t even show on Bones.
It’s this kind of personal connection that Boreanaz has to Seeley Booth that makes him such a compelling character and Boreanaz such an enjoyable actor to watch. Just like his warm off-screen relationship with co-star Emily Deschanel, that translates so richly into capitivating on-screen chemistry. The success of Booth and Bones seems to come from details that can’t be drawn from thin air and connections that can’t be faked.
