The wait for the highly-anticipated guest appearance of Jason Cook on General Hospital is over. Tomorrow, soap fans will see a different side of Cook as he spices things up in Port Charles.
Cook was originally slated to appear on General Hospital the first week of June. You can read more about this casting news in this previous article. However, his first air date has been pushed back to sometime in late June. Now, ABC has finally set the date for Cook’s General Hospital debut where he will play Dr. Matt Hunter, the rebellious new surgical resident on the hospital staff.
Best known for his role as Shawn Brady on Days of our Lives from 1999 to 2006, Cook won a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor in 2001 and earned nominations for Special Fan Award’ Irresistable Combination shared with Martha Madison and Soap Opera Digest Award’s Favorite Triangle shared with Kirsten Storms, Charity Rahmer, Martha Madison and Kyle Brandt in 2005. He became very popular in the daytime drama circuit, especially with his character’s relationship with Belle Black, played by Kirsten Storms, who now appears as Maxie Jones on General Hospital. As Cook heads to General Hospital, many fans are hoping that his character will cross paths with his former love interest in the fictional town of Salem.
When Cook’s contract with Days of our Lives expired in September 2006, he left the show. Actor Brandon Beemer has been recast as Shawn and debuted in the role September 28, 2006.
After his stint on Days of Our Lives, Cook has turned his attentions to writing and directing films, recently making the indie film Social Security Guard, starring his former Days of Our Lives co-star John Ingle. Cook’s other acting credits include the film The Wizard of Loneliness, The Amanda Show, Disney’s Project Time, the TV movie Club Med and the video game SingStar Amped.
