Katherine Heigl and Patrick Dempsey aren’t the only ones with upcoming films. Former Grey’s Anatomy actress Kate Burton also has an approaching movie entitled City of Your Final Destination, which will be released in 2008.
Kate Burton, a 49-year-old native of Geneva, Switzerland, previously played Ellis Grey, the Alzheimer-afflicted mother of Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy. Her other acting credits included The Ice Storm, The First Wives Club, and Big Trouble in Little China.
In City of Your Final Destination, the former Grey’s Anatomy actress stars as the character Lucy. Other actors featured in the film are Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal) as Adam, Omar Metwally (Sixteen Wounded) as Omar Razaghi, and Laura Linney (The Truman Show, The Squid and the Whale) as Caroline.
Based on the novel by Peter Cameron, City of Your Final Destination follows an Iranian-born graduate student at the University Of Kansas who aspires to write a biography on an a diseased writer. He travels to Uruguay to seek permission from the family the diseased writer and must find a way to persuade the family to authorize the biography.
Filming of the movie already started in Argentina and Boulder, Colorado.
Produced by Merchant Ivory Productions, City of Your Final Destination is directed by James Ivory with a screenplay by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala.
Aside from her drama film, Burton will also take part in the animated movie The Story of a Mother. She will be providing the voice of the character Night in a tale about a mother’s attempt to save her child’s life. After Death stole a Mother’s child, the Mother frantically pursues Death to get her child back. She encounters various characters along her quest and is forced to surrender parts of herself in order to retrieve her child. In the end, she realizes that the fate of her child lies on God’s hands. Directed by James David Hart, the film is scheduled for release this year.
