FOX had a busy Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, renewing three shows while making several huge casting announcements.
After airing just two episodes, Empire has received a second season renewal. Starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the hip-hop drama has received huge ratings and critical success, beating lead-in American Idol. Also renewed for the 2015-2016 TV season are freshman drama Gotham and sophomore comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Scream Queens Cast
Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror/comedy anthology series Scream Queens has expanded its cast. Joining previously announced stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts are Glee‘s Lea Michele, True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello, Little Miss Sunshine‘s Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and, in a recurring role, pop star Ariana Grande. The show takes a comedic look at a serial killer on a college campus.
Grease Live Cast and Air Date
FOX has made its first big announcements for a live production of Grease. The event will air Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 7pm. Dancing with the Stars alum Julianne Hough will take on the iconic role of Sandy while High School Musical‘s Vanessa Hudgens will play Rizzo.
In addition to these announcements, the FOX president also mentioned the possibility of bringing back 24 for another miniseries, maybe even without Kiefer Sutherland. Also, following the trend of resurrecting other cancelled shows (like Heroes and Twin Peaks), FOX is looking at possible reincarnations of The X-Files and Prison Break.
