FOX has just released its schedule for summer show finale dates. And it’s… a little bit weird. Keep reading to find out when So You Think You Can Dance, MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen and more shows will have their season finales.
We can blame the Olympics for the odd scheduling. As a result, many of the FOX shows — especially the more popular shows — will take a break in early August. The shows will then complete their runs in early to mid September.
In addition to breaking the FOX summer shows into two parts, this scheduling has another important effect. We can expect many of the regular-season FOX shows to begin before some of the summer programming is finished.
This could all be very confusing.
In the case of So You Think You Can Dance, for example, the show will be off-the-air (or in repeats) on the evenings of Wednesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 8. The dancing competition will resume on Wednesday, August 15, when the top 16 dancers will perform.
The later scheduling also means that So You Think You Can Dance will have to move to Tuesdays for its final two episodes. The semi-finals will air on Tuesday, September 11 at 8pm, while the So You Think You Can Dance season 9 finale will air on Tuesday, September 18 at 8pm.
