FOX released its 2011-2012 schedule today, and as expected, it’s all about The X Factor. The new Simon Cowell-led singing competition featuring Paula Abdul (thus making it Idol 2.0) will continue to fill the same three-hour Wednesday/Thursday block currently held by American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.

The network also has the new epic dinosaur drama Terra Nova launching Mondays at 8pm as well as two new comedies: Zooey Deschanel‘s New Girl about an off-beat chick who moves in with three single guys and I Hate My Teenage Daughter starring Jaime Pressly about a pair of moms who fear their daughters are turning into mean girls.
The network also has a pair of new animated shows. Allen Gregory (featuring the voice of Jonah Hill) is about a 7-year-old home-schooled kid who goes to public school while mid-season brings an animated version of the film Napoleon Dynamite.
The mid-season schedule is a little less certain. Glee will take an extended hiatus over the winter and not return until late in the spring, opening Tuesdays to a night of four comedies as New Girl, Raising Hope and I Hate My Teenage Daughter are joined by either Family Album (starring Glee‘s Mike O’Malley) or Little in Common (starring Rob Corddry).
FOX also has a new Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch (created by Heroes mastermind Tim Kring) which will come some time in mid-season.
In addition, the 11th season of American Idol will get a special premiere on Sunday, January 22 at 10pm following the NFC playoff championship.
