Glee is gearing up for quite a change of scenery for season 4, as a small handful of our favorite McKinley High graduates are heading to New York City to start a new chapter in their lives. And now we have the latest scoop, courtesy of TV Guide, on some of the storylines we can expect to see in the Big Apple.
Kate Hudson, who is joining the cast in a multi-episode arc, will be “a hard-ass New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts dance instructor, pitting her against new student Rachel.” You may be thinking, why would she need to take dance lessons? As Lea Michele says, “Dance is not Rachel’s strong point, but as a freshman it’s a requirement class she has to take. It will put Rachel in a very vulnerable place, stuck with a teacher who doesn’t make it easy for her.”
Even though Kurt received a rejection letter from NYADA, we all assume he’ll somehow end up in New York one way or another, and it’s a storyline that, as we know, involves a certain Sex and the City star. “[Kurt] will find himself in an establishment where Sarah Jessica Parker is his manager of sorts, but not in a performance sense,” Chris Colfer mentions.
Does this mean he takes up a regular job at some store? In the long run, it could mean more than that, as Michele let slip that “Parker’s character may be giving Rachel a makeover, which suggests a New York fashion-world story line for Kurt.” A lot of fans would like to see him venture into fashion. Now, the question remains: Is this “establishment” a job that Kurt applies and is hired for until he can figure out what to do with his life? I think it might be, but that by being with SJP’s character, he learns a great deal about the fashion world and ends up pursuing that field in some way.
But what about Finn? In the season 3 finale, he broke the news to Rachel that he would be joining the Army. Cory Monteith tells TV Guide that “Finn would have to be in very good shape and get incredibly fit, meaning I would have to be incredibly fit. I’m doing extra stuff this summer — CrossFit and fewer Snickers bars.” This pretty much confirms that Finn will go through with it after all. But months ago, it was revealed that all three of these graduating characters are heading to New York. So does something happen with Finn that causes him to be discharged and join back up with Rachel and Kurt? Only time will tell.
Does this scoop make you more excited for season 4’s New York storylines? Do you want Kurt to pursue a career in fashion? And what exactly will happen with Finn?
