Several characters found themselves in unfortunate situations in Grey’s Anatomy season 12 episode 14, “Odd Man Out,” but fortunately, people — the characters themselves or someone else — also made things better. Richard mixed up the pairings to give the residents a chance to check out a new specialty, and Meredith and Amelia in particular didn’t seem too pleased with having Jo and Penny on their services, respectively. Meanwhile, Arizona made a risky decision for her patient and a tough one about April’s pregnancy.
Here are the ways someone fixed a bad situation in “Odd Man Out.”

Richard Saw the Residents Getting Too Comfortable in Their Specialties
And so he had them choose their new service at random.
Gayle Was Waiting for Her Husband to Die to Get His Money, and So Riggs Said What She Wanted to Hear

After that, never again.
Jo Confronted Meredith When She Had Enough of How She Has Been Treating Her
“I’m a surgeon. I’m a human being. I’m not some stupid lump that you can just kick around or talk down to or talk down about or dismiss and discount. I get it. You don’t like me. But I’m here. I’m in Alex’s life and I’m staying. And you have to star respecting that,” Jo said. “Call your damn Army guy back and get your own boyfriend.”
Gayle Took Advantage of the Second Chance She Got With Her Husband
“I just want to have the chance to love him again,” she told Amelia after Griffin reverted to the man he used to be.
Penny Knew Amelia Likes to Know What Happens When She’s Not There, So She Talked Her Through What She Did to Their Patient
“You were perfect,” Amelia assured her when Penny asked if what she did led to them losing their patient on the table. Later, she called her a “natural neurosurgeon” when filling Owen in on her day.

It was an unusual method, but it worked while …
Arizona Decided to Deliver 1 of Courtney’s 4 Babies When She Went into Labor Early
That worked, and it bought the other babies a day or two more inside, which helped.
Meredith Apologized to Jo
She admitted she was hard on her. Alex hasn’t had it easy, and he doesn’t deserve to take another hit. However, Jo also needed to not let others squash her like a bug. “For the record,” Meredith added. “I am rooting for you to stick.”
After Amelia’s Rough Day, Owen Canceled Their Dinner and Took Her to the Puppies in Peds
Thorpe Showed Up to Ask Meredith Out in Person When She Ignored His Calls
Arizona Told Jackson About April’s Pregnancy
It was just as April had finally decided to tell him.

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
