Fans of CBS’ Guiding Light can expect to see a number of characters re-emerging on the daytime drama series, as well as a new love interest for a member of the Boudreau clan.
According to Soaps.com, former Beverly Hills actor Daniel Cosgrove is slated to return to the Emmy award-winning soap opera as Bill Lewis. Although there is no official word on when Cosgrove’s exact return will be, there have been reports that the 36-year-old actor will reprise his role in October. How long his return will last is also unknown at this time.
Cosgrove left Guiding Light in 2005, after which he signed up for a role in the ABC primetime series, In Justice. He is also expected to appear as Freddy in the upcoming drama, Dirty Sexy Money, starring Donald Sutherland (Commander in Chief) and Peter Krause (Six Feet Under). His other notable credits include All My Children and Mattie Fresno and the Holoflux Universe.
Another actor set to re-appear on Guiding Light is David Andrew MacDonald, who first entered the series as the villainous Edmund Winslow in 1999. When MacDonald left the show in 2005, his character was said to have been imprisoned. Like Cosgrove, no details about the date and the duration of MacDonald’s return have been officially announced.
After his recent departure from the daytime drama series, Darnell Williams is set to make his comeback as Griggs, a dangerous man who used to work with A.C Mallet (Robert Bogue), on August 21. Soaps.com reports that Williams’ character may debunk some of the illusions presented in the show, as well as stir up some new questions.
Finally, on the new casting front, Vanessa Simmons, one of the stars of the MTV reality series, Run’s House, has been tapped for the role of Lola, a young woman who is drawn to Remy Boudreau (Lawrence Saint-Victor). Simmons, 23, is the oldest daughter of legendary hip-hop pioneer and rapper Reverend Run, and has previously worked for the Ford Agency. She will begin appearing on Guiding Light on August 21.
