Disney fans have a reason to be excited this week. This coming Friday, the highly anticipated High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel. Following the movie, a new Disney animated show (featuring the voice of Ashley Tisdale) will air called Phineas and Ferb. After that, it’s a brand new episode of Hannah Montana featuring the Jonas Brothers, who are currently on tour with Miley Cyrus.
On the episode, Miley’s dad (Billy Ray Cyrus) starts writing songs for The Jonas Brothers. This, of course, prompts Miley to become jealous and upset. By the end of the episode, Miley and The Jonas Brother make peace and even sing a duet together.
Rumors are flying that while the trio was in town to film the episode, they also filmed a pilot of their own for The Disney Channel. The band was plucked out of obscurity and signed to Walt Disney Company’s Hollywood Records last year. The Walt Disney company has made a habit over the years turning their television stars into music ones as well. Notable examples are Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Vanessa Hudgens and of course, Miley Cyrus.
This week, Miley called into the KISS-LA morning show with Ryan Seacrest to talk about the exciting upcoming events in her life. She dished on her tour and also on her upcoming Hannah Montana big screen movie, which she and her dad will work on together. “My dad is the producer, which I’m really excited about,” she told MTV News last month. “He’s never done anything like this before but my dad is ready to take on new challenges.”
The first installment of High School Musical aired in January of 2006 and, since then, has been seen by over 160 million people worldwide. Many fans are planning viewing parties for the sequel. With Phineas and Ferb and Hannah Montana joining forces with the High School Musical 2 premiere, this coming Friday looks to be Disney’s biggest ratings night.
