With Heroes returning on September 24, the timing is right for NBC to start rolling pre-season hype hard and heavy.  As is the tradition in the TV realm, the cast has become spokespersons for the returning show, and has been given some latitude with regards to how spoilerish they can get with the press.  Everyone from Heroes’ Masi Oka to executive producer Joeph Loeb have been spreading teasers across the press.  Beware of minor spoilers.

When Heroes returns, we will flash forward four months into the future.  The rationale is that by insulating new viewers from the past it will be easier for them to join the show midstream.

Viewers who have stuck with the show from the beginning will get their payoff in episode eight of Heroes, which will jump four months into the past to fill in the gaps. At that time, Hiro (Masi Oka) is also expected to reunite with side kick Ando (James Kyson Lee) to embark on an entirely new adventure.

Sylar (Zachary Quinto) will be returning, but won’t be the same power-hungry freak we’ve come to know and loathe.  “The point at which we left the story in season 1, and the point at which we begin in season 2 are vastly different for my character.” Quinto told CNN.

Already, several new characters have been announced, and the producers have admitted they are eyeballing the cast for some recruits to join Eden, Ted, and Isaac, in Heroes‘ afterlife. “This is not a show about stars. This is a show about the show. Everyone has the same conversation when they come on. Wherever the story takes the writers and takes Tim is what serves that task” Loeb told CNN.

This is not even close to the full extent of changes awaiting Heroes fans when the show returns on September 24.  Fans will just have to tune in to find out what other twists await.
