The aftermath of Vanessa Hudgen’s nude scandal has left many people to speculate how this controversy will affect her career with Disney. The 18-year-old High School Musical star has already issued an apology but her inclusion on the third installment of the hugely popular TV movie remains uncertain. Now, execs have reportedly replaced Hudgens with Cheetah Girls star, Adrienne Bailon, according to an insider at US Weekly.
“It was an extremely hard decision to do. Vanessa has become apart of the family, but we felt it was irresponsible of her to do what she did,” an insider told US Weekly. “Adrienne will replace Vanessa in the role of Gabriella, Zac Efron‘s love interest in the upcoming High School Musical 3.”
Hudgens, who has been a role model to many youngsters, expresses her regret and humiliation for her “lapse in judgment” in posing for her steamy photos that were leaked to the Internet.
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” Hudgens said in a statement. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”
Disney, known for its wholesome reputation and family-friendly ventures, hasn’t confirmed or denied the replacement yet, but maintains the High School Musical 3 is still in development and that negotiations with the stars are incomplete as of the moment. A spokesperson from the company, however, has reacted to Hudgens’ apology, which does not exactly scream full support for the controversial actress.
“Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she’s learned a valuable lesson,” a spokesperson from Disney told Us Magazine.
Nevertheless, an opportunity awaits the High School Musical actress in the form of Girls Gone Wild. CEO Joe Francis, who also made an offer with American Idol‘s Antonella Barba after her provocative photos were leaked to the Internet, is now inviting Hudgens to “join the GGW brand and lifestyle.”
“Vanessa Hudgens is the classic girl next door gone wild. Being sexual is not a crime. She took a picture…it was leaked, and now it is time to move forward with her career,” Francis, who offered Hudgens $500,000, said.
