Good news all around for some of our favorite comedic actors!
It sounds as though when How I Met Your Mother returns in the fall, Jason Segel‘s character Marshall will have gotten the job he applied for late last season at an environmental law firm. Which is a great thing, since we just learned that he and Lily are finally expecting.
Dave Foley guest starred in the finale as Marshall’s potential new boss, but the Kids in the Hall alum’s new pilot, How to be a Gentleman, got picked up by CBS, so he won’t be returning to HIMYM. But another great actor with an impressive resume and well-honed comedy chops will take his place, Vulture reports: Martin Short will join the sitcom in a “recurring, multi-episode role” as Marshall’s new boss man.
Will he be better, worse or simply different from Marshall’s former boss Arthur, who loved screaming and foaming at the mouth almost as much has he loved his tiny puppy? We’ll have to wait and see, but one thing is for sure: Short is a show-stealer, and whatever crazy quirks the HIMYM writers throw at him, we’re confident he’ll be up to the task.
Speaking of funny show-stealers: You heard that Conan O’Brien won a season 7 HIMYM guest spot at a charity auction, right? It remains to be seen when that spot will happen, and if O’Brien will get lines in his spot or just appear as another patron of McLaren’s. Either way, he’ll be hard to miss.
