With the eye of Hurricane Sandy set to hit the east coast within the next few hours and almost a million people already without power, the storm has affected tonight’s broadcast television schedule.
CBS and the CW have decided to hold their original episodes from tonight’s prime time broadcast and air them next week instead according to the Hollywood Reporter.
On CBS, How I Met Your Mother, Partners, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly and Hawaii Five-0, will not air their originally scheduled episodes tonight. The comedies will be replaced by reruns followed at 10 pm ET by a CBS News special about Hurricane Sandy.
On the CW, 90210 and Gossip Girl will also be held for a week. With these changes to the schedule, Halloween will be extended a week.
Since the San Francisco Giants won the World Series yesterday, FOX has a repeat of X Factor auditions.
At this time, ABC still plans on airing the live Dancing with the Stars round which is not affected by the storm, since it is filmed on the west coast, followed by a new Castle.
NBC has a pre-recorded episode of The Voice followed by a new Revolution. We can only hope that the world reflected in the post-electricity Revolution will not be duplicated on the east coast.
Late night television has also been affected by Hurricane Sandy. Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will all be running reruns tonight.
According to Twitter, both Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Late Show with David Letterman were recorded this afternoon without a studio audience.
If you are looking for something to watch tonight, you can always turn on the Weather Channel or one of the news channels and view what plays like a Syfy Saturday night disaster film. Though in this case, it’s for real. Hurricane Sandy is a nasty storm. If you are in her path, stay safe!
