Ex-Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars contestant Jake Pavelka will jump the fence from ABC to Lifetime this summer, at least for a day. Pavelka has clinched a guest role on Drop Dead Diva that seems (perhaps literally) made just for him. People reports:
“Pavelka will guest star as Toby Davlin, a suitor on Finding the One, a dating show whose producer is being sued for “intentionally inflicting emotional harm” when Toby spurns one bachelorette for another.”
Jake begins shooting his scenes on June 18, and his episode, called “Good Grief,” is slated to air on August 22.
You may recall that acting isn’t totally new to Jake–and no, we’re not talking about his teary-eyed proposal to his now fiancee, Vienna Girardi, on The Bachelor. He once played a younger Chuck Norris on Walker, Texas Ranger. That little gig may have been many years ago, but it sounds like Jake’s acting chops (and charms) haven’t gone away. People spoke to Drop Dead Diva creator and exectuive producer Josh Berman, who raved about Jake’s audition:
“When Jake came into the office to audition for the role, the whole production came to a stop. Everyone wanted to talk with him. He was so gracious and charming. He was spot-on and won the role in the room.”
Well, he’s certainly gotten a lot of practice being charming this year. And who wouldn’t be “spot-on” when he’s playing himself? As far as acting jobs go, this one sounds about as well-suited to Jake’s strengths as he’ll ever find.
What do you anticipate for Jake’s Drop Dead Diva “Good Grief” guest spot: more “good,” or more “grief”?
