The Vampire Diaries has added one more name to watch out for in Mystic Falls and she comes in the form of Jasmine Guy, who is perhaps best known for her starring role as Southern belle Whitley Gilbert in the television series A Different World. She joins the cast of the CW series as the grandmother of Bonnie (Katerina Graham), one of Elena’s best friends with psychic abilities.
Warning: Minor spoilers ahead!!!
Guy, 47, doesn’t really strike me as the grandma type. She’s a little bit too young but maybe it’s because she isn’t playing some random Mystic Falls resident. Oh and she’s not a vampire either. So what is she then?
According to The CW, Guy’s character is a witch —which is pretty ironic because Guy’s character on A Different World has probably been accused of being a witch on several occasions and now, the actress will play one for real.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to you, especially if you’ve been following all the news and updates on The Vampire Diaries. As hinted previously, there will be other supernatural creatures featured on the show besides vampires.
As of this moment, there is no word yet on when Guy will make her debut on The Vampire Diaries but she’s certainly going to stir things up for Bonnie, who will soon discover that she comes from a long line of witches.
It’s been some time since Guy graced our TV screens. After a series of guest stints, she landed the role of Roxy Harvey on Dead Like Me and was most recently cast in the 2008 romantic comedy film Tru Loved. Are happy about this casting news? Will Guy’s arrival spice things up or will it be a drag?
