The clock may have run out for NBC’s science fiction drama but for fans, the journey has just begun. Like other television series that have been pulled off the air or shows on the brink of cancellation, devoted fans of Kevin Falls’ Journeyman, the show about a reporter who involuntarily travels through time, are seeking ways to save the program and get it renewed.
Given that Journeyman takes place in San Francisco, California, fans have decided to send one box of San Francisco’s own “Rice O Roni” to the execs at NBC. Along with the treat, a “letter from the future” is attached that contains fans’ sentiments and a list of creative ideas that will hopefully get the network’s attention.
“Your fight to save Journeyman has humbled and moved us. I’m certainly not going to tell you to stop now. Again, our sincere gratitude and a deep bow from the waist,” Falls said in the show’s official blog.
While this Jericho-like approach is greatly appreciated by the show creator and the rest of the cast and crew of the series, Falls acknowledges that the odds of the network picking up the show are quite slim.
The series suffered from low ratings and the network allowed its option for a full season order to lapse by the December 11 deadline for renewal. While there has been no official announcement from NBC, such an action effectively implies that the series has been cancelled.
Instead of dwelling on the reasons why the show was not picked up, Falls expresses his sincere gratitude to the fans and reminds viewers about the last two episodes of the series.
“Well, this is the message I didn’t want to post. I’m sure as most of you know by now, Journeyman will likely not be getting a back nine order. Rather than dwell on the reasons behind this decision… [we] would rather remind people that our last two episodes will air Monday night, December 17 at 10pm and Wednesday December 19 at 10pm. These two episodes will provide some answers, plenty of speculation, a few surprises and hopefully some satisfying closure. They are, I promise you, very entertaining,” Falls said.
Catch Journeyman tonight as Dan’s (Kevin McKidd) travels take him into a RV hanging off of a cliff just in time to try and save a mother and son in “The Hanged Man.”
