So You Think You Can Dance is about to get a case of Bieber Fever. The world-famous pop star will appear on the SYTYCD season 11 premiere to introduce a new element to the competition which includes some of the top dance crews in the country.
Bieber, along with his choreographer Nick DeMoura, will introduce the new twist that will have eight dance crews competing for a chance to perform on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. For each of the four audition episodes, two crews will be featured. Fans will then be able to tweet their support for their favorites. At the end of the auditions, the crew with the most tweets will get the opportunity to perform on the season 11 finale.
The new element adds even more dance to the popular summer reality show. The competition will remain an individual pursuit as a new crop of hopefuls try to win a ride on Mary Murphy’s Hot Tamale Train on SYTYCD.
Bieber, with over 52 million Twitter followers, is a logical choice to help try and boost the show’s social media presence. It’s a trend that has become popular on reality shows, with The Voice using Twitter for the Instant Save while Dancing with the Stars let fans vote via Twitter for season 18’s pro partner Switch-Up.
So You Think You Can Dance season 11 premieres Wednesday, May 28 at 8pm on FOX.
