On the last episode of House, Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) told House (Hugh Laurie) that she’d miss him if ever he pushes through with his plan to quit. That was the end of it, since she readily walked out. If you observed more closely though, you’d notice that there was a flicker of worry in House’s face.
But alas, Edelstein reveals to TV Guide that the Huddy pairing might take a backseat this season since her character is set to “get her own life and a love life” that unfortunately does not involve House. She hints though that the obnoxious but weirdly lovable doctor loves a challenge, and pushing him away might actually do well for their relationship, if you can call it that.
“This year, Cuddy is really trying to … not to be so down and up with House, which of course will probably make him go for her even more. I think there’s a lot of exploration going on with that. She should get to sleep with somebody else too. All’s fair in love and war. Damn it, why don’t I get any love scenes with anybody else? Every once in a while, somebody shoves their tongue down your throat that you’re not happy about.”
Ultimately, what’s going to happen to House and Cuddy? Edelstein tries to evade it and says she’s “not into endings” and House is not like Lost where there’s a definite closure for everyone.
“The complicated dance that they do kind of goes on forever,” she finally says, and I think most House and Cuddy fans would actually prefer it that way – complicated, and uniquely theirs.
