Jimmy Kimmel may be the highest-profile, most vocal fan of Lost around. If you’ve ever watched him on Jimmy Kimmel Live talking about the series, you know he’s not just shilling for a product of his own network – he is a true fan, been one since the beginning. The story goes, after filming the YouTube sensation “I’m Effing Ben Affleck” Kimmel and Affleck, who had never met before that day, went back to Kimmel’s house to watch that night’s Lost. His recent two part TV Guide interview with Lost show-runners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (which you can find here and here) might be the best, most in-depth interview ever done with the pair. Last Friday, Lindelof and Cuse returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss once more.
I’ve posted the video of the interview below, which contains a scene from next week’s episode. If you don’t have time to watch, here are the relevant highlights:
Terence Howard was Jimmy’s first guest and was on hand throughout the interview. I like Howard, but he was pretty annoying, hijacking the interview on multiple occasions, making lame jokes and taking away time for Darlton to answer questions. He did, however, say that he auditioned for Lost for the part of Michael. This was news to Darlton, so I question if he actually tried out.
Lindelof, answering a question of why Jack got sick when no one else seems to, says that when someone falls out of communion with the island, the island doesn’t like it. I counter: has Jack ever been in communion with the island?
In regards to the smoke monster, Lindelof said that Smoky has different rules for different people, which is why it killed Eko and didn’t kill the soldiers.
They said that the kiss in their finale is better than the kiss from the Grey’s Anatomy finale. They went on to say that there are several kisses in the finale.
Finally, they showed a scene from next week’s Lost episode. It’s Locke showing Hurley the mass Dharma grave and telling him hat Ben killed them. Also, interestingly, Locke says that they’re going to find “them,” them being the Dharma people. More ghost stuff?
So, here’s the full video. If you guys can glean anymore insight than me, please comment below.
