We’re less than one week away from Lost’s two-hour season 4 finale. Lost finales have been uniformly great and mind-blowing, and fans will surely expect nothing less from the conclusion of “There’s No Place Like Home.” Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, in recent interviews, have been trying (or so it seems) to temper audience expectations regarding a big twist. There may not be one – which, given the lead up to the finale, makes sense. There are questions to be answered. Mainly, how and why are the Oceanic 6 taken off the island, and what happens to everyone else? If there is no major twist, than perhaps we can better guess what might happen in the finale. These are my five predictions for the finale. Feel free to lend your own in the comments below.
1. The Island Will Be Moved…in Time
The island, according to Locke, needs to be moved. Ben appears to know how to do this. With what we’ve witnessed over the past season, I think it’s a lot more likely that the island can be moved through time as opposed to a physical move. This isn’t an original prediction, but I think it makes sense, and it’d be a cool set-up for season 5.
2. Sun Will Think Jin is Dead, but He Won’t Be
I sense a Michael redemption story in the finale. Jin, Desmond and Sayid are on the freighter, which is lined with a ton of explosives. As Sun escapes as one of the Oceanic 6, I believe she will see the freighter explode, thinking that Jin is on board. However, I think Michael is going to be the one staying on the freighter, trying to diffuse the explosives, saving Jin and Desmond in the process.
3. Claire Will See Aaron Again, but Will Want Kate to Take Him
Something, clearly, has happened to Claire. The island has got a hold of her, maybe she’s dead, who knows? But, the last time we saw her in the cabin, she didn’t seem too interested in her bay-bay. She, for some as yet unknown reason, will insist Kate take Aaron to safety.
4. Kate Will Decide to Stay on the Island with Sawyer, but Aaron Will Force Her Off
We’ve been teased a season finale kiss by Darlton, and it has to be between Kate and Sawyer. Kate, by the end of the finale, will finally decide that she should stay with Sawyer. However, Claire’s insistence that Kate take Aaron will take Kate by surprise and she’ll be forced to be a part of the Oceanic 6.
5. Ben Will Save Locke
Ben is a complicated guy, but I think, ultimately, he’ll be seen as good. He will opt to save Locke’s life somehow, whether it’s because he needs him in the future or because Locke is a necessary piece in moving the island. Believe me – Ben will show his good side in next week’s finale.
