The Vampire Diaries will be bringing back several fan-favorite characters for its final season, including former hybrid Tyler Lockwood, who almost died at the hands of Damon in season 7.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actor Michael Trevino will first appear in the third episode of season 8.

So what brings back Tyler to Mystic Falls? He will reportedly reunite with Damon, whose mental state has taken a turn for the worse following his experience in the vault. The werewolf will try to talk some sense into an unstable Damon by reminding him of what and who is important.
Trevino officially left the CW series in season 6, though he resurfaced briefly in season 7 as the person responsible for keeping Elena’s comatose body safe.
Are you looking forward to seeing Tyler on The Vampire Diaries? Will Damon actually listen to Tyler? Considering their near-fatal past encounters, Tyler’s efforts may be futile but hopefully, Tyler will make it out alive.
The Vampire Diaries returns Friday, October 21 at 8pm on The CW.
