It looks like Special Agent Tony DiNozzo will make his final appearance on NCIS at the end of this season. After 13 seasons, Michael Weatherly will depart from the CBS drama, says TVLine.
A statement from CBS read, “After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season. He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today – the No. 1 drama in the world. We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

This isn’t the first time that this news was made. Actor David McCallum, who plays Ducky, first let this story slip in an interview with UK’s Vulture Hound. “DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly… is leaving at the end of the season,” said McCallum. “So the writers have to decide what to do when one of the four members of the original cast leaves.”
Weatherly took to Twitter after the news broke, sharing some heartfelt words and images about the show. “I will miss the amazing crew & cast, who are like family to me,” one tweet said. “& to the fans all over the world – THANK YOU, it’s been a fantastic ride!”

What does this mean for the rest of the cast and the future of the show? How will NCIS properly and appropriately wrap up Tony’s storyline on the show after 13 seasons? Only time will tell.
NCIS season 13 airs Tuesdays at 8pm on CBS.
