Here’s another tale of reality television gone awry. Real estate developer Ryan Alexander Jenkins, one of Megan Hauserman‘s suitors on VH1’s Megan Wants a Millionaire, is a suspect in the murder of swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore.
The police are currently hoping to question Jenkins, listed as a “person of interest” in the murder, as he is the victim’s supposed boyfriend/husband. The two met on the Strip in Las Vegas, shortly after the guy’s elimination from Megan Wants a Millionaire. They were married in March, a couple of days after their first encounter.
Jenkins reported the 28-year-old model as missing last Saturday, and her body was later found in a suitcase. It was discovered by a man who was looking for recyclables in a metal trash bin located in Buena Park, California. Police told The Los Angeles Times that the girl appeared to have been strangled.
“Ryan is currently speaking to his attorney and will fully cooperate with the police in this matter,” Jenkins’ publicist announced. “He is planning on meeting with them in the near future.”
Friends of Jasmine Fiore revealed that the relationship between the two was already on the rocks, and that she was ready to call it quits. TMZ reports that she was planning on heading back to Vegas to “reunite” with an ex-boyfriend on the day before her body was found.
Megan Hauserman was asked to comment on the matter, and she told TMZ what she knew about Fiore and Ryan Jenkins. “He met her after the show,” she said. “They’re married. It was his wife. They got married in Vegas. I think they got married after two days.”
However, a roommate of the couple claimed that Fiore was not a stripper, and she met the 32-year-old Jenkins at a Hawaiian Tropic event in Vegas. Whatever the case, there’s still no confirmation on the identity of her killer.
Amidst all this, VH1 has released their statement on the matter:
“Ryan Jenkins was a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire, an outside production, produced and owned by 51 Minds, that is licensed to VH1. The show completed production at the end of March. Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family.”
It looks as though we won’t be seeing Megan get her millions any time soon.
