After renewing many of its shows, NBC has finally gotten around to canceling some. The network has officially axed freshman drama Awake as well as three of its first-season sitcoms Are You There, Chelsea?, Bent and BFF. Also dead is the Kathy Bates, Emmy-winning drama Harry’s Law.
Awake began with positive buzz, but had very low ratings. It marks the second big failure for creator Kyle Killen, who also made FOX’s Lone Star. Awake‘s two-part season finale begins Thursday at 10pm with the series finale airing Thursday, May 24 at 10pm on NBC.
Harry’s Law has received solid ratings, but never quite caught on. The series finale will air Sunday, May 20 at 8pm.
The trio of canceled comedies follows the network’s huge slate of new and renewed sitcoms. Six current comedies were picked up for next season while seven new comedies were ordered.
With these cancellations, NBC has made decisions all almost all of its current shows. The Firm is basically cancelled already, but that leaves Harry’s Law as the sole scripted series whose fate is still undecided.
NBC will reveal its full 2012-2013 lineup on Monday.
