Heroes is going away…again. NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt has announced that the network is not going to bring back Heroes Reborn for a second season.
The original Heroes ran from 2006-2010. This season NBC resurrected the cancelled show for a special 13-episode event, Heroes Reborn. However, the reboot has failed to catch fire and now it’s just a miniseries, not the beginning of a relaunch.
Heroes Reborn started with over 6 million viewers, but has dropped under 4 million in recent installments. The finale is scheduled for Thursday, January 21 at 8pm on NBC.
Heroes is one of a long list of formerly cancelled shows networks are trying to reboot. FOX did it with 24 and has The X-Files debuting soon while a new version of Prison Break is also in the works. Showtime is bringing back Twin Peaks and Netflix has new installments of Gilmore Girls on the horizon.
Heroes Reborn airs Thursdays at 8pm on NBC.
