NBC is continuing to pick up more shows for the 2014-2015 TV season, with even more comedies on the way for the peacock network.
First up in this batch is One Big Happy, executive produced by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman, which will air mid-season.
The series stars Happy Endings‘ Elisha Cuthbert, Nick Zano and Kelly Brook, and follows in a similar vein to a previous NBC series, The New Normal, in that it’s considered an LGBT-themed half-hour comedy. Cuthbert’s character is a lesbian who is pregnant with her best friend’s baby.
It’ll be interesting to see how Happy does next season, considering some other recent LGBT shows, like The New Normal and Sean Saves the World, never made it beyond season 1.

NBC has also ordered the workplace/space comedy Mission Control, which is set in the 1960s. The show centers on Dr. Mary Kendricks, played by Kristen Ritter, an aerospace engineer at NASA who ends up in competition with an astronaut named Tom, played by Tommy Dewey, who’s brought on board as a co-manager. The goal? To land on the moon, of course.
Control is a single-camera comedy and is executive produced by another big name: Will Ferrell.

Also picked up is Bad Judge, a single-camera comedy starring (and executive produced by) Kate Walsh, of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice fame, as a judge working in the San Bernardino criminal court system who loves to have fun. But she’s very much respected in her line of work and resorts to behavior in the courtroom that’s considered not normal.
Serving as executive producers with Walsh are Will Ferrell (again) and Anne Heche.
NBC hasn’t had the best of luck with comedies in recent years, though About a Boy was just renewed for a second season. The three comedies above join the previously ordered Marry Me and A to Z.
The network will unveil all of its new shows and 2014-2015 schedule during the upfronts on Monday, May 12.
