That face. That figure. That knife?
Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) is a killer all right. A well-trained killer as well as an interrogator with ‘special’ methods.
So what do we know about Ziva?
She drives a red mini cooper. That makes sense. Lots of energy in a small package and red is a color that warns a person off isn’t it? Stop. Go no further.
She has a few hobbies. I mean other than throwing knives and finding interesting uses for a credit card. I’m still trying to work out how she killed a man with one. Perhaps she ‘charged’ him.
We know she sings and very well too. Ziva also plays piano and dances (she took ballet when she was young). She is very graceful when she flips a man to the floor. She also does a fabulous high kick.
Ziva enjoys reading, cooking, and boxing. Okay, I can’t find a connection there but it’s nice to know she has other hobbies.
The boxing does come in handy for defending Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) who is just a friend and colleague. I’m sure she would defend any of them equally.
Her favorite movie is the Sound Of Music. That’s a good movie. The escape scene is very tense. It probably reminds Ziva of a mission she did for Mossad.
Ziva speaks nine languages among them Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, and Turkish. She speaks English of course but cannot seem to manage contractions. She also finds our idioms difficult. Well, you cannot have everyone. Sorry, everything I mean.
Getting back to the knife. Ziva has taught knife throwing to her fellow NCIS team members with mixed results. This is a handy talent to have and she has been seen practicing it. Guns can be such noisy things.
Guns are a comfort though especially when you sleep. Ziva told Tony once she sleeps with a gun in her hand. I imagine she needs to be very careful when rolling over. That’s an easy way to put holes in the bedding.
You can’t choose your relatives the saying goes. Ziva’s family has undergone some pruning.
Her sister, Talia David, was killed in a terrorist suicide bombing. Ziva herself shot her half-brother Ari when he attempted to kill NCIS team leader Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Ari had already killed a member of Gibbs’ team, Special Agent Caitlin Todd. He had to be stopped. She stopped him dead.
Her father Eli David is the Director of Mossad. If any branch of the family needs cutting it would be his.
He raised Ziva to be a killer telling her it was for the good of his future grandchildren. Israel is a dangerous place at times. What he planned was for his daughter to defend the homeland at any cost, even her life. What a forward thinker Daddy was huh?
Ziva has since left Mossad to become a full-time NCIS Special Agent and an American citizen. Much to the delight of Tim McGee, she is a probationary officer. She has become the ‘probie’ on the team now.
She has been around men her entire life and is not intimidated by them. She respects her teammates. She may even be softening around them. But don’t assume she is a kitten.
Kittens do have sharp claws.
