Lane Garrison, whose character David “Tweener” Apolskis, was killed off earlier this season on Prison Break, has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
As we previously reported, Garrison was involved in a car crash last December in which he was driving his Land Rover and hit a tree, killing one of his passengers, seventeen-year-old Vahagn Setian, and injuring two others, also teenagers. Garrison, 26, claims to have met the teens at a grocery store and accompanied them to a party.
The parents of Vahagn Setian, who was a student at Beverly Hills High School, are happy that the Prison Break actor has been formally charged, not only with vehicular manslaughter but with several other felony counts, as well as the misdemeanor of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The Setian family’s lawyer Paul Kiesel said in a statement, “They have lost their only child due to Lane Garrison’s recklessness.”
Garrison’s defense attorney, Harland Braun, had previously hinted that they were going to present an argument that Garrison had only had one drink, and that faulty brakes were responsible for the crash, but seems to have ditched that now, since Garrison was found to have a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit, as well as cocaine in his system at the time.
Mark Wahlberg, who gave Garrison a starring part in his soon-to-premiere film Shooter after Garrison’s Prison Break role ended, says he’s praying for Garrison every day. Wahlberg spent some time in prison himself as a young man, and often credits that time with helping him to turn his life around.
Attorney Harland Braun says Garrison will “accept responsibility for his conduct. The only question is, what is that level of responsibility?”
Garrison was allowed to post a $100,000 bail and released on his own recognizance, but isn’t allowed to drive, drink, or enter any bars. He could be facing up to ten years in prison if convicted. His arraignment will take place in April 11 in Beverly Hills Superior Court.
