This summer, catch Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning series Project Runway as it makes its way over to the Lifetime network with an all-new season. Set to premiere on August 20, the series will bring back host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, as well as a pack of new designers set to take over the fashion industry.
“I am a huge fan of Project Runway and could not be happier that Season Six will be premiering on Lifetime, the #1 network for women,” declared Andrea Wong, President and CEO, Lifetime Networks. “The talent in this all-new season is nothing short of amazing, and I can’t wait for all of the fans to see the incredible work of these brilliant designers.”
The decision might perplex a number of fans, since it was announced that the sixth installment of the series was ready to premiere last January. It has been delayed for months due to litigation between the Weinstein Company, which produces the show, and NBC Universal, the parent company of Bravo, which broadcast its first five seasons.
Now that the lawsuit has been settled, audiences can finally mark their calendars for the return of Project Runway. In addition to the premiere of the show’s subsequent season, a new companion series has also been slated to air. Called Models of the Runway, the upcoming program will give viewers a different perspective on the competition.
It’s the models who’ll be taking the audience behind the scenes, as we can all witness every bit of drama that they have to face. Every half-hour episode features the girls trying their best to stay in the game, contending with one another for a cash prize and photo spread in Marie Claire magazine.
Don’t miss the premiere of Project Runway on August 20 at 10pm, followed by Models of the Runway at 11pm on Lifetime.
