Gratification came quickly for Victorya Hong, Project Runway season 4 contestant whose winning dress from Wednesday’s episode is now available for sale. Sarah Jessica Parker, who served as celebrity guest judge during the episode, ended up choosing Hong’s design as an inspiration for a new addition to the Sex and the City actress’ clothing line, Bitten.
Hong made a dress and a matching vest in a challenge wherein contestants had to create an outfit with a $15 budget and a $40 retail price. The winning design was said to be featured in Bitten’s fall line, exclusively sold at Steve and Barry’s stores nationwide. Among the seven designs, including the work of Elisa, Kit, Marion, Ricky, Christian, and Rami, Parker opted for Hong’s outfit.
Known for its cheap pricing compared with other celebrity clothing lines, Parker’s Bitten provides affordable yet trendy clothes for young women. The Bitten interpretation of the Project Runway dress is offered in black or burgundy for $19.98, and the vest that goes with it comes in gray or black for $14.98.
“I loved Victorya’s design immediately when I saw it during my appearance on Project Runway,” Parker said in a statement.
As for Hong’s original dress, it will be on display at Steve & Barry’s flagship Manhattan store for several weeks.
Meanwhile, fans can catch Hong on Project Runway season 4. So far, there are 13 remaining contestants vying to become the winner, who will receive a spot at New York Fashion Week, an editorial feature in Elle Magazine, $100,000 cash from TRESemmé to start a clothing line, an opportunity to sell a fashion line on Bluefly.com, and a 2008 Saturn Astra. These contestants will go through a series of weekly challenges under the watch of mentor Tim Gunn, and judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia.
Project Runway airs every Wednesday at 10pm on Bravo.
