In the wide expanse of television, we have seen many different types of kisses over the years, none more memorable than the first kisses of the couples we root for. In this slideshow, we count down the 25 couples with the sexiest first kisses. For the purpose of this list, the “first” kiss will be each couple’s first on-screen lip-smacker that was not part of a dream sequence or hallucination.

#25 Daniel and Vala, Stargate SG-1
Season 8, Episode 12: It was not love at first sight for this pair, but their first kiss was definitely one to remember. After all, how many first kisses happen in the middle of a brawl?
#24 Kurt and Blaine, Glee
Season 2, Episode 16: After Kurt’s heartfelt performance, Blaine finally had a light-bulb moment when he realized that Kurt was the one for him and he sealed that realization with a kiss. Yes, Blaine, we were moved, too.
#23 Jules and Grayson, Cougar Town
Season 1, Episode 21: After a season of dating all the wrong men, their first kiss proved that Jules had finally gotten it right with neighbor and paper-buddy Grayson. The fun flirtation fans had enjoyed for 21 episodes was an excellent build-up to that moment.
#22 Crixus and Naevia, Spartacus: Blood and Sand
Season 1, Episode 4:Crixus and Naevia got off to a less than perfect start thanks to poor communication and her belief that he thought of nothing but glory in the arena. In a heated moment, Crixus kissed Naevia and proved that victory was not all that occupied his thoughts.
#21 Annie and Auggie, Covert Affairs
Season 3, Episode 16: Auggie and Annie spent three seasons dancing around their feelings for one another, all while establishing an unbreakable bond of friendship. But there was nothing platonic about the kiss they finally shared in the season finale.
#20 Zoe and Wade, Hart of Dixie
Season 1, Episode 1: After a truly awful day and far too much alcohol, Zoe climbed into Wade’s truck for a steamy make-out session. This was one of the more memorable moments from the pilot episode and not a bad way to start off one of the show’s main romances.
#19 Deacon and Rayna, Nashville
Season 1, Episode 12: Joining the Juliette/Rayna tour was either the best or the worst decision Deacon has ever made. Either way, it led to one ridiculously hot kiss when Deacon decided he had enough talking and finally kissed his ex.
#18 Will and Alicia, The Good Wife
Season 1, Episode 17: Alicia and Will spent much of the show’s first season ignoring their growing sexual tension because Will was her boss and Alicia was still a married woman. But chemistry like theirs can only be ignored for so long before it explodes, which is exactly what happened when the two finally used their lips for something other than talking.
#17 John and Aeryn, Farscape
Season 1, Episode 13: Ben Browder and Claudia Black had the kind of chemistry every show-runner dreams of and this was just the starting point for one of television’s sexiest couples. These two spent a good chuck of the series locking lips and there was not a bad kiss in the bunch.
#16 Sean and Alex, Nikita
Season 2, Episode 21: After a brush with death, Sean chose to live in the moment and finally act on his feelings for Alex. And though Alex spent most of the episode insisting that nothing was going on between the two of them, her reaction to the kiss told a very different story.
#15 Ben and Leslie, Parks and Recreation
Season 3, Episode 14: This kiss had it all — forbidden love (thanks to Chris’ rule that colleagues could not date), spontaneity and the anticipation of legions of fans. I cannot imagine a better first kiss for one of the best couples on television today.
#14 Luke and Lorelai, Gilmore Girls
Season 4, Episode 22: After four seasons of endless amounts of coffee and snarky banter, these two finally made it official with their first kiss. Luke was right — that one action spoke louder than all of the words that came before.
#13 Duke and Audrey, Haven
Season 3, Episode 7: With Audrey’s time running out, she knew she had to start living her life and who better to help her than Duke, the king of living in the moment. Audrey may have cooled things down in fear of ruining their friendship but the kiss itself was incredibly hot.
#12 Tara and Pam, True Blood
Season 5, Episode 12: The moment Pam became Tara’s maker, fans of the deliciously vampy duo were waiting for them to hook-up. It may have taken all season but like Jessica, we all knew it was coming.
#11 Oliver and Laurel, Arrow
Season 1, Episode 5: In this scene, Laurel and Oliver shared some memories and some hard truths. The moment brought them closer and the two ex-lovers found themselves in a steamy smooch before Laurel ran for the exit.
#10 Chuck and Sarah, Chuck
Season 1, Episode 9: Just nine episodes into the first season, a life-or-death situation led to the first kiss between this future spy-couple. Lucky for fans, it was the first of many great kisses to come.
#9 Nick and Jess, New Girl
Season 2, Episode 15: Nick came down from the ledge, took off the trench coat and finally kissed the girl. Sorry Nick, but no one who participated in such a hot kiss can be called a cooler.
#8 Hodgins and Angela, Bones
Season 2, Episode 7: For their first date, Hodgins took Angela to the park because he remembered how much she loved the swings. This unusual date went so well, the two shared their first sweet, sexy kiss amidst those symbols of childhood abandon.
#7 Castle and Beckett, Castle
Season 3, Episode 13:Caskett fans were thrilled when they learned that their favorite “will-they-or-won’t-they” couple would finally kiss in season 3. And though that kiss proved to be a case-related diversionary tactic, fans knew it was only a matter of time before the two kissed for real.
#6 Bonnie and Jeremy, The Vampire Diaries
Season 2, Episode 14: It took Bonnie a while to realize that Elena’s little brother was all grown up but once she did, Jeremy kissed her in a way that silenced any remaining doubts. Wow, indeed.
#5 Owen and Cristina, Grey’s Anatomy
Season 5, Episode 2: Before the plane crashes and the shootings and the PTSD, Owen was just a soldier headed back to war who took a moment to make-out with a hot doctor. And despite her objections that they had only just met, Cristina didn’t seem to mind.
#4 Josh and Donna, The West Wing
Season 7, Episode 13: After seven seasons of power-walks and flirtatious arguments, Josh and Donna finally stopped fighting their feelings and gave in to their pent-up sexual tension. It took a while for these two to get their act together, but it was well worth the wait.
#3 Logan and Veronica, Veronica Mars
Season 1, Episode 18: LoVe fans were delighted when the unlikely couple finally gave in to their combustible chemistry and puckered up. The kiss, like their romance, was much more than “just a momentary thing.”
#2 Sawyer and Kate, Lost
Season 1, Episode 8: The kiss might have been a con, but the chemistry was the real deal and these two burned up the screen with their first kiss. You know a kiss has to be pretty special when even the non-shippers take notice.
#1 Vaughn and Sydney, Alias
Season 2, Episode 13: After the Alliance take-down, Vaughn and Sydney decided to celebrate by making out with each other’s faces for 40 perfect seconds. The music swelled, the camera made itself dizzy and poor Weiss was completely ignored as these two finally smooched their way into television history.
