Watch out, Scranton. David Brent is coming.
Ricky Gervais, the guy who plays David Brent on the original The Office series and produces the American version, has finally confirmed that Michael Scott’s British counterpart is set to make a trip to Scranton to, we hope, wreak havoc.
The 48-year-old had more than Golden Globes hosting duties on his American calendar, and he teases that his Brent will definitely “clash” with Scott (Steve Carell).
“I think it would be funny for David Brent to walk into the US Office and hear them go ‘Oh my God, there’s two of them!'” Gervais said, “We don’t need to know about Brent’s back story – the English office exists in a cocoon. Michael Scott could just bump into Brent who is a bloke from England”
Will any of the Office guys meet their British counterparts? Not likely, says Gervais, as bringing Brent to Scranton will be hard enough.
“I don’t think we’ll take any of the other UK characters over – we’ll probably leave it with just me as it’s just too complicated.”
