For the last five years, The Cheetah Girls have been singing, acting, and dancing their way into the hearts of young Disney fans. They have released five albums, three movies, and embarked on worldwide tours. At some point though, all good things must come to an end. Group member Kiely Williams told In Touch Weekly magazine that their current tour, The Cheetah Girls: One World, will be their last. “We were excited about going out on a high note, it’s sad that this negative attention, Adrienne Bailon’s pictures, put a damper on that,” she admitted to the mag. Sabrina Bryan also opened up recently, talking about her rise to stardom and her love for her group.
“I think for me when we first booked The Cheetah Girls, I was so excited because I love to do singing, dancing and acting,” Bryan said in an interview with Vindy.com. “It was so awesome that I would actually have an opportunity to do all of that in one project. It was my first thing I had done with Disney, and that was so exciting. I had been on so many auditions for Disney Channel shows, and when I finally booked something, and I met the girls, it just became this thing that was so infectious.”
Bryan went on to say that, even though The Cheetah Girls is a manufactured band, the girls still are involved in the creative process. They have written songs on albums and they have also pursued their own individual projects from singing to acting to writing. Bryan recently released her first book, titled “Princess of Gossip”, about a seemingly invisible high school student who is mistaken for a rising pop star’s assistant.
Whether The Cheetah Girls stay together or not, Bryan has nothing but positive things to say about the group that made her famous and the girls that she could soon be saying goodbye to. “I think the main message behind the Cheetah Girls is about inspiring young girls in their lives and showing them that you can be friends and have a lot of the same dreams, but there is a time when you have different dreams and that’s OK too,” she said. “So what’s most important is that you support each other and really are there for them. I feel so grateful to be a part of a group.”
