Sleepy Hollow is going on with the show without Abbie. Now that Nicole Beharie has officially exited the series in the season 3 finale, Sleepy Hollow is casting its next female lead. TVLine has released the character description for the “new Abbie” and it sounds like she will have an even more contentious relationship with Ichabod.
The next female lead of Sleepy Hollow is Anna. She is raging supernatural skeptic, which will obviously create conflict with Ichabod Crane. She is 30-something military veteran who is working in the Secret Service’s “Basement,” a top-secret X-Files-esque branch of the government.
Anna is a single mother, who is “fiercely devoted” to her 11-year-old daughter Stella. This is at least one thing that Crane and Anna will be able to agree about and respect about one another. The description for Anna tells that “She’s got a tough, take-charge personality, punctuated by a wry sense of humor. She’s a born leader, but she also has a softer, more caring side which she rarely shows.”
Sleepy Hollow is reportedly looking at wide list of actresses of multiple backgrounds to play Anna, so we have a few suggestions. Perhaps the most perfect solution would be for Sleepy Hollow to cast Megan Good. Good is a talented actress who hasn’t really found a TV series that can fit her and Sleepy Hollow could be that fit. She was recently on FOX’s canceled Minority Report series so she would be in “the family” and would be a good replacement to Nicole Beharie.
Kandyse McClure, Paula Patton and Jurnee Smollett-Bell are also great actresses who currently have nothing to muck up their schedules. If Sleepy Hollow wanted to be especially meta, though, it would be amusing if the show were to cast Stana Katic as the new lead. Katic was the other high-profile exit in the last TV season when she was let go from her Castle contract.
