Smallville‘s Supergirl will fly the friendly skies once again but this time she’ll have a sweet ride. Smallville fans will remember Laura Vandervoort as Kara Kent, Clark’s cousin from back home. Kara was last seen escaping the Phantom Zone only to leave in search of her birthplace in Kandor. Or a hot new ABC pilot  – whichever came first.

Laura Vandervoort joined the cast of V, a science fiction series written by 4400 creator Scott Peters. V is a remake of the 1983 NBC mini series and short lived 1984 TV series, both of the same name. A group of space aliens known as The Visitors attempt to take over the planet with their political influence, but they’re challenged by a resistance group from the humans. They persecute scientists in order to keep them quiet and smooth their transition to power, taking on increasingly fascist overtones.
Vandervoort will play “Lisa,” a free-spirited, baby-faced Visitor who is a guide on the Los Angeles mothership.  Few other details are known yet about Lisa or her story, and Vandervoort has not spoken publicly about the part yet.

After getting her start on teen horror series like Are You Afraid of the Dark (in “The Tale of the Laser Maze”), Goosebumps and the Disney Channel movie Mom’s Got a Date With a Vampire, Vandervoort was already well schooled in the general genre before she got her break on Smallville.

V has been picking up steam in recent days, with Losts Elizabeth Mitchell joining the pilot in a guest starring capacity (this according to the Alphabet Network, which also produces Lost.) Morena Baccarin (Firefly) will play the lead Visitor. The pilot has not officially been picked up yet. The networks typically announce their Fall lineups later in the spring.

Check out pictures of Laura Vandervoot, and tune in to ABC this fall to see her in V.
