After tonight’s So You Think You Can Dance elimination, only 10 of the original 20 competitors will remain on the show. They will, however, be joined by a group of All-Stars — dancers from previous SYTYCD seasons — for the remaining episodes. The full slate of All-Stars will be announced during the results show on July 14, but producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe let one name slip a little bit ahead of time.
The named All-Star? Chelsie Hightower.
Hightower is best-known now for her appearances as a professional partner on Dancing with the Stars, but she got her start on season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2008. The Latin dancer made it through 8 weeks of the dance competition before being eliminated.
Since that time, Chelsie has appeared on five straight seasons of Dancing with the Stars, partnering with Ty Murray in season 8 (placing fourth), Louie Vito in season 9 (placing 8th), Jake Pavelka in season 10 (placing 7th), Michael Bolton in season 11 (placing 11th) and Romeo in season 12 (placing fifth).
Nigel Lythgoe told TVGuide.com that he was excited for Chelsie Hightower’s return to So You Think You Can Dance: “We’re delighted she’s coming back from Dancing with the Stars for us. She’ll be going back to them of course.”
There is no word yet on the other All-Stars slated for season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance. When they are announced during the Week 5 results show, they will be paired with whichever current-season competitors make it into the Top 10.
