If Freeform hasn’t already decided to renew Stitchers, the season 3 finale will make it a necessity.
Set to capitalize on the parental theme of the season, episode 10 will undoubtedly cause an already devoted fanbase to redouble their renewal efforts. Executive producer Jeffrey Alan Schechter previewed Monday’s episode at San Diego Comic-Con last month, promising a cliffhanger of epic proportions.

As viewers know, “Maternis” will feature Kirsten’s most daring stitch to date — one that takes her into the mind of her living mother — at the behest of her father.
“Episode 5 was ‘Paternis,’ episode 10 is ‘Maternis,'” Schechter teased. “If you think about that and you know what Kirsten’s journey has been this entire season, there’s a lot to look forward to in episode 10.”
The title teaser was merely the appetizer, however. Schechter and actor Damon Dayoub (Detective Quincy Fisher) quickly got down to the heart of the matter — the nail-biting cliffhanger.
“We end the season with a great cliffhanger that I think will drive our fans crazy (in a good way) because they are not going to be able to wait for next season,” Dayoub said, causing his grinning EP to launch into the story of how the jaw-dropping moment really came to be.
As it turns out, those final scenes weren’t even originally on the books. Instead, a snap decision caused writers to flip the script once cameras were already rolling.
“There was a scripted version, which was already a cliffhanger. It was like a holy cow moment. And then, while we were shooting, we came up with an idea for an even bigger cliffhanger moment and we didn’t tell the network about it,” Schechter laughed. “[We] shot it, put it into the episode, and the network saw it, had no idea it was going to be there and they wigged out. They said they screamed because they had no idea it was going to end so huge. That’s all I can say.”
