The sophomore season of Riverdale is about to take a very bizarre turn if series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is to be taken seriously. On Twitter, the showrunner posted a new set photo from behind the camera featuring Melissa Benoist in her Supergirl outfit as she hangs out with Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) at Pop’s — hinting at a possible crossover.
The Sugar Man Is Coming to Riverdale>>>
“Look who dropped in to #Riverdale for a visit,” Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted. “Worlds colliding!! Can a crossover be far behind??”

Could Supergirl really head to Riverdale or is this just a trick? Though a crossover sounds ridiculous, the idea may not be that far-fetched. The show doesn’t exactly shy away from the bizarre. In case you missed it in season 1, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) had a nightmare about her brother rising from the dead while Betty’s mom (Madchen Amick) used sage to cleanse the house — which was seemingly a reference to Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Recently, we also reported the arrival of the Sugar Man, who may or may not be supernatural.
What do you think of the Supergirl-Riverdale crossover? Do you think it’s going to happen? Is it even a good idea? Any theories on why it might happen?
Riverdale will return on Wednesday, October 11 at 8/7c on the CW. Check out our Riverdale Facebook page!
