It’s going to be a busy year for CW’s Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, who has just acquired another acting gig. Aside from his upcoming movie, Ten Inch Hero, Ackles will be appearing in the theater production of A Few Good Men in June.
Ackles, a native of Dallas, Texas, currently stars as Dean Winchester, the classic rock-loving demon hunter, on the thriller series Supernatural. His acting credits include Days of Our Lives, Dark Angel, Smallville and Dawson’s Creek among others.
A Few Good Men, a play by Aaron Sorkin, has been acclaimed on Broadway and has been made into a movie in 1992. It follows the story of two marines who are charged in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay. As their military lawyer explores their case, he uncovers an intense conspiracy, which puts him in a big predicament. Eventually, he makes a noble and fearless effort to defend his clients, which puts the Marine code of honor on trial. Originally presented at the Heritage Repertory Theatre of the University of Virginia’s Department of Drama, the new adaptation is set to launch in the Casa Mañana Theatre on June 5-10, 2007.
Joining Ackles will portray the role of Lt. Daniel Kaffee, and actor Lou Diamond Phillips will be playing Colonel Nathan R. Jessep. Phillips credits include Young Guns I & II, La Bamba, Stand And Deliver, Courage Under Fire and The King of Siam.
According to several news outlets, A Few Good Men is something to watch out for, evident in its positive reviews from the New York Post and Time Magazine.
