The new season of Supernatural is almost here. The premiere comes Friday, September 24 at 9pm, and while we already have our first look at the episode, we now have a description of the premiere to go with them.
The CW released the following official synopsis for the season 6 premiere, “Exile on Main Street.”
“It’s a year later and Dean has given up hunting and is living with Lisa and her son Ben. Mysteriously freed from his cage in hell, Sam finds Dean and tells him he needs to rejoin the fight and introduces Dean to a world – a family – he never even knew existed: the Campbells, his mother’s family, led by none other than their Grandfather Samuel (Mitch Pileggi).”
I love moving forward an entire year because it allows Dean to be in a completely different place, emotionally and mentally. It also lets Supernatural have a little mystery so future episodes could flash back to what happened, much like season 4 when Dean returned from Hell.
However, it still doesn’t answer one big question: Where the heck does Samuel Campbell come from? Is he a ghost, a zombie or resurrected by the angels? And how did Sam reconnect with his maternal grandpa in the cage? Supernatural has a lot of explaining to do, and with new showrunner Sera Gamble, I trust that we’ll have a new plan moving forward.
From now on, Supernatural fans, it’s “In Sera We Trust.”
