Rarely do we get to see an After the Final Rose special that is legitimately juicy.
But the one following Andi Dorfman’s finale episode of The Bachelorette in which she chose Josh Murray and sent Nick Viall packing actually lived up to Chris Harrison’s hype.

There was the excited betrothed couple of Andi and Josh who seem to be truly in love (for now).
And then there was Nick.
In case you missed the finale, Andi went to Nick’s hotel room the morning of the final Rose Ceremony to break up with him, sparing him the humiliation of having his marriage proposal rejected later that day.
To say that Nick was stunned was an understatement. He had convinced himself that Andi was The One for him and that her feelings mirrored his own.
The breakup conversation was short and to-the-point, but it left Nick with lots of unanswered questions and he left the Dominican Republic without any sort of closure.

But what he did next does not typically happen on The Bachelorette or The Bachelor. Nick continued to pursue Andi after he was rejected. Let’s examine whether or not Nick went too far…
Repeated Attempts to See Andi
Chris Harrison told everyone that Nick attempted to see Andi when she was vacationing in Mexico. She refused to see him.
Next, Nick flew out to The Men Tell All special in Los Angeles and again tried to get some face time with Andi. This attempt was captured on camera.
From what we saw, Nick seemed calm and collected as he asked Chris Harrison to ask Andi if she would see him. Yes, this might sound like the behavior of a stalker, but think about it.
Nick was 100% convinced that Andi was going to be his wife. He felt that she reciprocated his love. And as a viewer, frankly, I tend to agree with Nick’s assessment of the situation.
On their final date, Nick told Andi how worried he was about not being The One in the end. Andi smiles and tells him, “It’s gonna be alright.” Nick (and I) took this to mean that everything would be okay because she is picking him and they will live happily ever after.
So it’s understandable that he felt blindsided when he got dumped. Maybe all he wanted was one conversation in private before having to come face-to-face with Andi on After the Final Rose.
I really don’t think that’s too much to ask for, but apparently it was. Andi again refused to see Nick. He remained calm when he heard this news and handed Chris a letter to give to Andi instead.

The Letter
We saw the letter being handed to Andi during the credits of The Men Tell All, but we had no idea what it was. Now we know it was the words of a desperate Nick, trying to get across what he needed to say to Andi.
Again, if all Nick wanted was to have a conversation with Andi before seeing her on-air, giving her a letter seems harmless. It doesn’t seem like he was trying to convince her that she chose the wrong guy. In fact, Nick even complimented Josh, saying he’s a great guy and won’t take Andi for granted.
Perfectly acceptable behavior by a jilted lover!

Spilling Sex Secrets
Did you notice that I referred to Nick as a jilted “lover”? This brings me to the best part of After the Final Rose— when Nick revealed that he and Andi slept together in the Fantasy Suite.
Is this shocking news? Not really. I have always assumed that sex happens on the overnight dates, but no one ever really confirms this to be true. It’s just our assumption.
Until Nick went there. “Knowing how in love with you I was, if you weren’t in love with me … I’m just not sure why you made love with me,” he says to Andi.
There was a stunned gasp from the crowd and from my mouth. Did he really say that?!
Maybe Nick was trying to humiliate Andi like she humiliated him. Or maybe he genuinely wanted to know why she banged him and then dumped him. It’s a valid question. Should he have said it on a live television show? Probably not, but this was his only chance to talk to her.
He tried valiantly to speak with Andi privately at least twice that we know of. Both times she refused. Did she really expect that his dialogue with her on After the Final Rose would be all peaches and cream?
I’m going to give Nick a pass on this one, too. Perhaps it wasn’t very gentlemanly, but Andi hasn’t acted much like a lady to him. I think she totally led him on in the final weeks and if she didn’t see this reaction of Nick’s coming, then she’s an idiot.
I admire Nick for standing up for what he believes in and seeking closure. His behavior falls well within the limits of reasonable actions by an ex-boyfriend who was dumped on national TV. Nick for Bachelor!
