The CW has set a premiere date for cycle 21 of America’s Next Top Model, and it will return at the end of summer.
[Update July 23]: CW moves the America’s Next Top Model premiere to Monday August 18 at 9pm.
The new season of the Tyra Banks competition will begin Friday, August 22 at 9pm on the CW. Like last year, it will continue through the fall season, joined by Whose Line Is It Anyway? at 8pm. Most of the CW’s fall lineup won’t begin until October.
Like cycle 20, the new season of ANTM will be co-ed, with male and female contestants competing against each other.
After being gone for two seasons, runway coach J. Alexander will return to the show as a judge, replacing Rob Evans. He will join Tyra Banks and Kelly Cutrone. In addition, this season creative director Johnny Wujek will be replaced by photographer Yu Tsai. The foreign destination for cycle 21 will be Seoul, South Korea.
ANTM cycle 21 will close out a summer of many new unscripted shows and some comedies. Besides multiple airings of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the CW will debut Famous in 12 (premieres Tuesday, June 3 at 8pm), which follows an ordinary family trying to become “celebrities” like the Kardashians. The network also has two magic reality shows, Penn and Teller: Fool Us (premiering Wednesday, July 30 at 8pm) and Masters of Illusion (premiering Friday, August 1 at 8pm).
Half-hour comedies Backpackers and Seed will join the CW’s Monday line-up on Monday, July 14 at 8:30pm and 9:30pm respectively, wedged around episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway?
The CW also has two specials for the summer. The iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party airs Wednesday, July 9 at 8pm while the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards air Monday, July 28 at 8pm.
