The CW has no love for H8R. Following in the footsteps of NBC canceling The Playboy Club and Free Agents, the CW has pulled the low-rated reality series off the air. Repeats of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Ringer will fill the empty time slot Wednesdays at 8pm.
The decision comes as no surprise since H8R has been the lowest-rated show on all of primetime television for the past three weeks. The show has averaged less than 1.2 million viewers for the four episodes that aired.
H8R, hosted by Mario Lopez, featured celebrities confronting ordinary people who hate them in an attempt to change their minds. Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria and Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy have been featured. With the cancellation, it means viewers won’t get to see next week’s episode with Janice Dickson and Levi Johnston, though it’s fairly obvious why people would hate them.
The move continues the CW’s trend of failing to create a successful reality show. Past competition disasters include the mother-daughter pageant show Crowned, the dating show Farmer Wants a Wife, the fashion magazine assistant show Stylista, weight-loss marriage show Shedding for the Wedding and the horror show 13: Fear is Real. The CW has also failed with documentary reality shows like Hitched or Ditched, Plain Jane, High Society and Fly Girls.
The network currently has two new reality shows in development. Re-Modeled follows the struggles of small-time modeling agencies while The Frame is a competition where teams of two are stuck in a small area and must perform tasks.
