This summer the CW isn’t going to be full of repeats. Like its key teenage demographic, he network typically takes the summer off. But this year the CW will host four new reality shows, included The Catalina and Breaking Pointe, which will premiere at the end of May.
The Catalina will premiere Tuesday, May 29 at 8pm before the season finale of The L.A. Complex. The show centers on the wild, young staff at a Miami hotel who work during the day and party at night.
Breaking Pointe, premiering Thursday, May 31 at 8pm, follows the dog-eat-dog world of a Salt Lake City ballet company. Between this show and ABC Family’s scripted drama Bunheads, I guess the success of Natalie Portman’s Black Swan had a big impact on television executives.
The Catalina and Breaking Pointe will also air encore episodes Mondays during the summer staring at 8pm.
These shows will join the Wipeout-esque musical chairs competition Oh Sit and the singing competition The Star Next Door, with judges Gloria Estefan and John Rich, on the summer schedule. The CW has yet to announce premiere dates for those two shows.
