Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt clearly have nothing better to do than to publicly trash Lauren Conrad every chance they get. What they really should do is kiss the ground Lauren walks on. If it hadn’t been for her, Heidi would never have been on The Hills, where her on again off again romance with Spencer has been a main storyline since the two first met. If not for Lauren, the pair would not be followed around by paparazzi, not be invited on to top talk shows, not appear on the cover of US Weekly magazine. Anyone with a brain would shut up and be thankful for what they have but anyone with a brain is not Heidi and Spencer.
Heidi and Spencer have appeared on both The Tyra Banks Show and Late Night With David Letterman promoting nothing but a two year old fight between Heidi and Lauren. Basically, Heidi and Spencer told the press that Lauren had a sex tape. She denies having one and Heidi denies ever leaking any information to the press. What’s interesting is that now, all Heidi can talk about is Lauren’s sex tape. Last night, she told Letterman that she and Lauren could never be friends again.
Anyone who reads my Hills recaps and columns knows my extreme hatred for Spencer. Heidi, however, is right behind him. I have disliked several of my friends’ boyfriends and vice versa. We work through it or we end our friendship. What we don’t do is run around town trying to forever ruin someone’s public image. It’s so sad, so pathetic, that it’s really all Heidi has going for. Why don’t Heidi and Spencer get that they’re a national joke? Hell, even Barack Obama took a shot at them on Letterman last night.
They love it though, they live off of it. Any press, good or bad, it doesn’t matter to Heidi and Spencer. They’ll never be anything more than D-list celebrities and they’re okay with that. They’re Pauly Shore, Dustin Diamond, and Britney Spears (during her meltdown) all rolled into one. I don’t think I’ll ever come to a point where I’ll like Spencer, but I’d sure as hell respect him a lot more if he would stop saying things like he’d rather throw up then watch Lauren’s sex tape. I wish Heidi wouldn’t use Lauren as a way to promote her crappy handbags. I love reality television, and I certainly love The Hills, but even I have a breaking point!
