Perhaps Spencer and Heidi really belong together. The two stars of MTV’s The Hills have been known to do whatever it takes to earn fame, even deciding to embark on a musical career while armed with questionable talents. Spencer Pratt recently talked about his rap aspirations to SPIN.com, especially since his first single – “I’m a Celebrity” – has already been released. Very similar to a bunch of rabid hounds being freed, since you can’t get away from either.
With an album tentatively called Info Wars scheduled to come out later this year, Spencer Pratt was asked what his motivation was. “To be honest, my whole life I’ve always been listening to rap music or reggae,” he began. “It took people like 50 Cent to come along and, you know, he’s on the Forbes list making $500 million, so I’m like, ‘Wow, there can be a lot of money in this.'”
Discussing his first single, which is based on his stint on the NBC reality competition I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, Spencer admitted that he’s simply doing his best to make “phenomenally great music.” Obviously, he’s doing it for the cash. He won’t move any mountains or make history with his music, since Spencer doesn’t intend on that.
“I plan on making hit music, but I just don’t believe that it’s like when Eminem first came out with “Lose Yourself.” I’m not trying to make an inspiring song right now. I’m just making what the market wants right now. Ringtone rap.”
When asked how he’d rate himself as a rapper, the Hills star exclaimed, “I have the biggest mouth on earth, so why wouldn’t I be the best rapper — you know what I mean?”
Spencer has also been thinking of using “Great White” as his nickname. “Once you get Great White in the game, he’s growing each day and is gonna start eating people. That’s why I love rap. You can come up with so many different names.”
